We are a family-company and proud of what we make, and we try to take your taste to the highest level.
All our recipes are genuine Guyanese, passed on by great-grand-mother, to grandmother, to mother and to daughter.... and that is what you taste!
We started our restaurant in 1997, and has always been situated in the Bronx. From the first day we opened, our food became famous in the neighborhood, and we have build up a regular customer base since.
Because we are a family owned restaurant, the same persons make all your food. That is why you recognise the taste! Besides that, you are most of the time served by that familiar face, that treats you as a friend.
All our recipes are genuine Guyanese, passed on by great-grand-mother, to grandmother, to mother and to daughter.... And we hope that you like our family recipies.
These recipes are the reason why we did start our restaurant. Friends coming over, who tasted the food, told us, that we should open a restaurant, because it tastes so good! And in 1997, we decided that it was time to do so. Up to today, we are happy that our friends advised us, to open Carifesta Restaurant! And you, as our regular customer, prove that we are still on track.
We put a lot of effort in finding the proper ingredients. That means that we try to find the best meat. But sometimes the deliveries do not meet our quality standards, and therefor we can run out of certain products. We rather dissapoint you by saying that we have run out, than that we dissapoint you by giving you an inferior product.
Now you know a bit more about us, we hope to see you soon!
You are welcome!
People that have tasted our food, and live outside of the Bronx, or even the state New York, travel to us, to get our food.
